GymPin Safety Squat Handles

GymPin Safety Squat Handles are designed to make barbell squatting more comfortable for lifters with tight, restricted or previously injured shoulders.

They clamp directly onto a standard barbell, allowing you to keep the bar in a high-bar position across the traps while holding the handles comfortably in front of you. This reduces the shoulder rotation normally required for back squats and gives you a practical alternative to using a dedicated safety squat bar.

Sold as a pair, each handle fits tool-free using two thumb nuts and protective rubber strips to help prevent bar damage.

A more comfortable way to hold a straight bar

GymPin Safety Squat Handles let you keep a high-bar squat position while holding the handles comfortably in front of you. That means less shoulder rotation and no need to replace your straight bar with a dedicated safety squat bar.

Everything you need to know

Everything you need to know about GymPin Safety Squat Handles, from installation and compatibility to grip options and safe use.

Reduce shoulder strain without changing your squat

GymPin Safety Squat Handles are designed for lifters who struggle to comfortably grip a straight bar during back squats because of restricted shoulder mobility, discomfort or previous injury. The forward handle position reduces the shoulder rotation normally required while retaining a familiar high-bar squat setup.

  • Maintain a familiar straight-bar squat setup
  • Reduce the shoulder rotation required to grip the bar
  • Useful for restricted shoulder mobility
  • A practical alternative to buying a dedicated safety squat bar

Fit both handles in minutes

Position the handles evenly on a suitable straight bar. Tighten both thumb nuts on each handle by hand, making sure the protective rubber strips are seated correctly against the bar. Confirm that neither handle can slide or rotate before unracking.

  • Tool-free installation
  • Two thumb nuts secure each handle
  • Protective rubber strips contact the bar
  • Easy to reposition or remove

Choose the grip that suits your training

Select Rubber or Knurled in the product purchase area where each option is available. Rubber provides a softer and more forgiving contact surface. Knurled gives a firmer metal grip with more direct feedback.

  • Rubber: softer and more forgiving
  • Knurled: firmer feel and direct feedback
  • Both options use the same clamp system
  • Current availability is shown above

Check the setup before every set

These handles change where you hold the bar, not the fundamentals of safe squatting. Use an appropriate rack and safeties, inspect the handles and protective strips, tighten every thumb nut and begin with a light test set.

  • Position both handles evenly
  • Tighten all four thumb nuts
  • Check that neither handle can move
  • Perform a light test set before loading heavily
