Six checks before adding weight
Specialist gym accessories can change how load is applied to equipment. Check the fit and begin conservatively.
- Confirm the correct fit.Check pin diameter, usable length, sleeve size and available clearance.
- Inspect the product.Do not use anything damaged, loose, distorted or excessively worn.
- Ask permission.Get approval before attaching products to equipment you do not own.
- Start conservatively.Add a small load and test one slow, controlled repetition.
- Keep the area clear.Ensure plates and moving parts cannot strike people or equipment.
- Never slam the stack.Use controlled repetitions and follow the machine manufacturer's limits.
Solve common setup problems
Do not force a component into place or continue using a setup that moves unexpectedly. Work through the relevant answer below.
The product does not appear to fit my machine
Stop before applying force. Confirm the exact GymPin product and variant you ordered, then check the machine’s make, model, selector-pin diameter, usable pin length and available clearance.
Small differences between machines can affect compatibility. Send GymPin clear photographs and measurements if the fit remains uncertain.
I may have ordered the wrong GymPin size
Do not force the product into the selector hole. Compare the size shown on your order confirmation with the machine’s existing selector pin.
Measure the metal shaft rather than the handle, preferably with callipers. Contact GymPin with the measurement and photographs so the correct size can be confirmed.
The GymPin will not insert fully
Check that the weight-stack plates are aligned and resting correctly. Inspect the selector hole for damage, debris or an internal obstruction.
Make sure the product is being inserted straight and that no sleeve, plate or attachment is interfering with the usable length. Stop if resistance remains.
The product or added weight moves during use
Stop using the setup immediately.
Confirm that the GymPin is fully seated, the Olympic plates are secure and every component has adequate clearance from the stack, frame, cable and surrounding equipment. Reduce the load and perform one slow test repetition.
Do not continue if anything twists, lifts, catches or moves unexpectedly.
The added plates contact the machine
Remove the added load and check the available space around the weight stack.
Some machines have shrouds, guide rods, frames or cables that restrict plate clearance. A different loading-pin length, plate diameter or GymPin product may be required.
Never allow added plates to strike moving parts during a repetition.
The weight stack does not move smoothly
Remove the GymPin and test the machine using its original selector pin.
If the stack still sticks, the issue may be with the machine rather than the GymPin. If it only occurs with the GymPin fitted, check alignment, plate clearance and loading position.
Do not attempt to overcome sticking by adding momentum or slamming the stack.

I am unsure whether the setup is safe
Do not use it until compatibility has been confirmed.
Send GymPin the product name, machine make and model, clear photographs of the fitting point and relevant measurements. Where the equipment belongs to a commercial gym, obtain permission from authorised staff before attaching or loading the product.

Use GymPin products responsibly
Seek the equipment owner’s permission before attaching GymPin products to gym equipment. Inspect the product and machine before each use. Do not exceed the equipment manufacturer’s limits, overload equipment, slam weight stacks or use a setup that is unstable, damaged or incorrectly fitted. Stop immediately if anything moves unexpectedly or appears unsafe.
Customer questions answered
How do I know whether my GymPin product is compatible?
Check the product listing and size guide against your machine’s selector-pin diameter, usable pin length, loading area and available clearance.
Machine designs vary, even within the same brand. Contact GymPin with the make, model, photographs and measurements if you are uncertain.
Do I need permission to use GymPin products in a commercial gym?
Yes. Always ask the gym owner, manager or authorised member of staff before attaching a GymPin product to equipment you do not own.
The gym may have its own equipment rules, insurance requirements or loading restrictions.
Can I add as much weight as I want?
No. A GymPin product does not increase the machine’s rated capacity.
Follow the equipment manufacturer’s limits and consider the capacity of the cables, pulleys, guide rods, frame and weight stack. Add load gradually, use controlled repetitions and never slam the machine.
How should I care for my GymPin product?
Keep it clean and dry, and inspect it before use.
Look for deformation, cracks, excessive wear, loose parts or damage to the loading surface. Stop using the product if anything appears unsafe.
Avoid dropping it or allowing loaded plates to strike the machine.
Can I use GymPin products with any weight plate?
Use only plates that correctly match the product’s loading diameter and remain secure throughout the movement.
Check that the plates have enough clearance from the machine, cables, frame and surrounding equipment. Large-diameter or unusually shaped plates may not suit every setup.
What information should I send when contacting support?
Your order number
Where you purchased the product
Exact GymPin product and size
Machine brand and model
Clear photographs of the selector area
Relevant pin, hole and clearance measurements
A short video if the issue involves movement
That gives the support team something more useful than the timeless classic: “It doesn’t fit.”
