Cable Cuff Exercises: What Can You Train?
Move the cable connection from your hand to the ankle, wrist or upper arm and the same cable station opens up a much wider range of isolation work. These are practical starting points for training the glutes, hips, hamstrings and shoulders with GymPin Double Stitched Cable Cuffs.
Cable Kickbacks
Target muscles: Primary: gluteus maximus. Hamstrings assist with hip extension.
Connect to a low pulley and drive the leg backwards under control. The ankle cuff leaves both hands free to brace and keeps the resistance connected directly to the working leg.
Cable Hip Abduction
Target muscles: Primary: gluteus medius and minimus, with the hip abductors controlling the movement.
Stand side-on to a low pulley and move the working leg away from the body. Continuous cable tension makes this a useful glute and hip isolation exercise.
Cable Hip Adduction
Target muscles: Primary: the hip adductor group on the inside of the thigh.
Reverse your position relative to the pulley and draw the working leg towards the midline. Start light and keep the pelvis stable.
Cable Hamstring Curls
Target muscles: Primary: biceps femoris, semitendinosus and semimembranosus.
Use the ankle cuff for standing or suitably supported cable leg curls. The cuff gives the lower leg a direct connection to the cable without improvising with a hand attachment.
Cable Lateral Raises
Target muscles: Primary: lateral deltoid.
Wearing the cuff at the wrist lets shoulder abduction drive the movement without requiring you to squeeze a D handle throughout the set.
Cable Front Raises
Target muscles: Primary: anterior deltoid.
Attach at the wrist and raise the arm forwards against cable resistance. Useful when you want the shoulder to be the focus rather than the hand-to-handle connection.
Rear-Delt Cable Raises
Target muscles: Primary: posterior deltoid, with upper-back muscles stabilising the shoulder blade.
A wrist or suitable upper-arm cuff position can create a clean line of pull for controlled rear-delt cable work, depending on your pulley setup.
Cable Hip Flexion
Target muscles: Primary: iliopsoas and other hip flexors, with the trunk working to stabilise the position.
Face away from a low pulley and bring the cuffed leg forwards under control. Use modest resistance and avoid turning the movement into a whole-body swing.
