The 2" MiniPin - Black Edition Designed to allow an additional weight plate to be added to the side of your cable machine weight stack. This MiniPin is designed to be used with 2" Olympic plates that have a 2" (50.8mm) hole in the middle. The part that enters the weight stack is available in 2 sizes: (select the same diameter size as your gym equipment's existing weight stack pin)

Game Changer!

I wish I had found this years ago, it would have made progressing some exercises much easier. It's particularly handy for shoulder isolation exercises (e.g. cable lateral raises) as the 2.5KG jumps on the weight stacks at my gym are too much for that exercise.

I've found that combining the MiniPin with a 0.75KG mini Olympic plate (various other places sell these - but GymPin are missing a trick here!) gives me pretty much bang on 1.25KG, a perfect halfway point between the plates on the cable stack. Combined with an 8 - 15 rep range, I can now smoothly progress on exercises that I couldn't do before.

The MiniPin itself is very well made, and will last forever, so it's well worth the money. I went for the black to make it less conspicuous in the gym (and it looks great too!). The 10mm size fits the Matrix cable stacks in my local gym perfectly.

The only mistake I made was not buying a pair at the start as it would have saved me money in the long run. As I get stronger I'm finding that 2.5KG is too much for some dual cable stuff too (e.g. cable flyes), so I've had to buy an extra one to keep things moving for those exercises as well.

Ok for what it is.

I think it is well made but vastly overpriced. For my stacks the pin is too long so the 2 inch head doesn’t sit flush against the stack which means plates will move and potentially fall between. It would be good if different pin lengths were offered. Also maybe add a Lip on the 2 inch bar to prevent this.

I think also what would make a great product is offering Gym pins that were the weight themselves.
In other words for my 5 kg stacks, what I want to do is add 2.5 kg so that I can use half a plate. If the Gym pen itself weigh 2.5 kg then I would not have to add a plate to it and it would simplify things a lot.

One thing worth clarifying is that GymPin isn’t a single, one-size product. We offer three formats for exactly this reason: the MiniPin, Original GymPin, and KingPin, each designed around different stack depths, selector spacing, and use cases. For shorter stacks and tighter tolerances, the MiniPin is often the best fit, while the Original and KingPin are intended for deeper or heavier stacks where full engagement is critical.

Pin length is a deliberate safety-led choice. We prioritise full engagement through the stack and selector column to ensure stability under load across a wide range of commercial machines. While that can mean the head doesn’t always sit completely flush on every stack design, it avoids partial engagement, which is where wear and failure risks tend to appear.

On the suggestion of alternative lengths or adding a retaining lip, these have been prototyped and tested over time. In practice, they reduce compatibility across different machines and can introduce wear points on selector columns, which is why we’ve focused on universal, machine-safe designs rather than multiple niche variants.

Your idea of a weighted GymPin is a good one and something we’ve discussed internally. The challenge is delivering accurate, repeatable weight while keeping the pin compact, durable, and compatible with all three formats. It’s not off the table, but we’ve chosen to prioritise robustness, simplicity, and safety first.
